         SIS & SOHU Holds China-Africa Youth Seminar

Cosponsored and broadcasted live on the internet by sohu.com, China-Africa Youth Seminar was held by SIS in the Mingde Lecture Building of Renmin University in the afternoon of November 1. African students of SIS and other schools of Renmin University and some Chinese students of SIS addressed at the seminar.


In his welcome address, dean of the School of International Studies, professor Li Jingzhi pointed out that the opening of the China-Africa Summit showcases that the friendship between China and Africa is of long-standing and well established and the future of the cooperation is promising. He emphasized that China has always been attaching great importance to its relationships with African countries and our African friends including politicians, entrepreneurs, overseas students and the African academic circle also value their communications with China. “With the development of its economy, China is doing its best to promote China-African friendship and the economic development and social advancement of African countries. Therefore, China-Africa forum is a good platform for us to explore the potential of the cooperation between China and African countries,” he added. Dean Li also sung highly of the dilligence of African students studying in Renmin University, for they not only do well in their academic research, but also contribute a lot to promoting China-African relations.

 

At the seminar, Moris from Benin, Saigu from Guinea, and Ahmad from Eygpt, all PhD candidates of SIS, made brief introductions respectively about the relationships of their countries with China and they unanimously agreed that China-African relationships are consistently enhanced and the cooperation expanded. After that, Zhang Lei and Xie Yuhao, Chinese students of SIS, made comments on China’s Oil Strategy in Africa and the Economic Cooperation between China and Africa respectively.


The seminar which lasted for 2 hours enhanced the mutual understanding and friendship between Chinese and African students
